Choosing recycled materials is a smart way to make use of what’s already in circulation, rather than producing new materials from the Earth’s resources. Using virgin materials requires both energy and new inputs, while recycled materials build on what already exists. This reduces unnecessary impact and contributes to a more circular journey where every kilogram counts. A PET bottle, a plastic package, or leftover material from a factory can be given new life as part of a lighting solution. Working with recycled materials is just one part of our broader mission to develop smart and resource-efficient lighting solutions. We consider the entire chain, from material and product development, to how our products are used and can be reused. Several of our luminaires are based on modular options, marked with a Hide-a-lite choice.
Exploring new materials and thinking in new ways comes naturally to us. We choose recycled materials where they make the greatest difference, without compromising function, lighting comfort, or quality. The material must withstand its environment, fulfill its purpose, and provide reliability during installation. Today, we primarily use recycled plastic — both post-consumer materials that have already been in circulation, and pre-consumer materials that would otherwise become waste. We evaluate new recycled materials that can work in our lighting solutions and contribute to even more resource-efficient products.
