Creating healthy and inspiring school environments takes more than just switching on the lights. It’s about finding the right balance between daylight and artificial light, and allowing light to support what actually happens in the room. With high windows and generous daylight, Ektorps School is complemented with luminaires offering the right color temperature, excellent glare control, and DALI control that follows the school’s rhythm.
The general lighting is complemented by Optic Track M, adjustable track spotlights that can easily be directed toward lockers, graphics, or information boards. These spotlights not only highlight what’s happening in the space but also give the corridor a more modern and updated look.
Echo and Optic Track complement each other both functionally and visually, where the spotlights create a distinct contrast to the soft ambient light. The result across the school’s three floors is bright, clear corridors with lighting that supports orientation and contributes to a modern, welcoming atmosphere.
On the way down to the cafeteria, the light wood continues along the walls and stairs, creating a cohesive impression. In the ceiling, Solo Maxi G2 is used — a large downlight suitable for higher ceilings that provides well-shielded light through advanced reflector technology. The luminaire offers comfortable general lighting while creating soft light arches on the walls and enhancing the room’s volume.
In the restrooms, Moon Slim with integrated PIR sensor turns on instantly when the door opens. Several of the restrooms also feature Mirro IP44, a timeless mirror luminaire designed to meet the requirements of small public bathrooms.
In storage and technical rooms, Kloss and the fluorescent replacement Liteline G2 IP44 are used — two luminaires that deliver even and functional working light.
Outside, lighting continues to enhance safety. Around the multisport court, Scout G2 M floodlights are mounted on poles. With an asymmetric light distribution and high efficiency, they illuminate the entire area effectively without glare. Built to withstand Nordic conditions, the luminaire can be adjusted for different heights and angles.
Along the school’s façade runs a walkway beneath vertical slat structures forming a long pergola. Here, Milo XL Down is ceiling-mounted — an IP55-rated luminaire with reflector technology, high output, and durable finish. It provides clear and secure lighting for students and staff moving between buildings.
The lighting in the sports hall is a story of its own. The brand-new hall is an impressive part of the school environment, with generous spaces and a striking wooden structure framing the stands and playing field. Here, the challenge was to achieve both brightness, even light distribution, and safety. The hall ceiling is equipped with Indline G2 IP23 Sport, a ball-tested luminaire with protective grille, asymmetric light distribution, and high efficiency — easy to install and maintain. In adjacent shelter rooms, Liteline Basic IP44 with protective bracket is used — a reliable choice where extra durability is required.
The entire system is controlled via DALI, automatically adjusting lighting according to time of day, activity, and presence for improved comfort and smarter energy use. For installers, it’s a well-planned solution with clear structure, intelligent systems, and efficient setup. For the school, it means safe, energy-efficient, and pleasant lighting — from the first to the last lesson of the day.
Throughout the Ektorps School project, Hide-a-lite has demonstrated what we mean by a complete lighting solution — from technical rooms to sports hall, from outdoor areas to corridor pathways. The result is a cohesive lighting concept where every luminaire serves its purpose and where light truly makes a difference.
